As you search for a web host , you will undoubtedly come across the term “uptime” and all sorts of guarantees surrounding it. But what does this really mean – and why does it matter?
What is Uptime hosting?

Types of server monitoring tools
There are literally dozens, if not more, of server monitoring tools available on the Internet – some of them are free and some of them exceed thousands of dollars a year.
Some of them run simple HTTP checks to confirm if your site is working, while others perform very complex tasks in the background to control more control points 50 at the same time.

We use HTTP to transmit data on the Internet using dialing rules that tell servers and web browsers what information should be exchanged. Since it participates in a constant exchange of information, HTTP monitors provide information about HTTP traffic between the Internet and a computer. Advanced settings allow users to obtain additional information, such as whether there is an SSL certificate.
DNS Server Monitor
Each computer has a numeric address; DNS protocol translates the online address to a numeric address. By comparing information and monitoring addresses off-screen, a DNS server monitor can provide detailed information about uptime, protocol failures, network failures, and much more. It is especially important if the numeric address does not match the online address, the DNS is able to recognize it and report an error that may be the result of the hijacking.
TCP port monitor
Transmission Control Protocol — or TCP, in short, transfers data from one network device to another network device, using a retransmission strategy to ensure that there is no data loss that occurs during each transmission. Since it is part of quality control and has the ability to establish communication between the host, it becomes quite fast if there is a problem with the connection. 9. Robot Uptime
Uptime Robot checks your sites every five minutes or so, and if the site does not respond, the program will send you an email stating that your sites are down. The best thing about Uptime Robot is that it is absolutely free and allows you to connect up to 50 monitors for each account. I use Uptime Robot to track most of my test sites and publish performance evaluations here monthly.
What Uptime monitoring service to use?
Several key factors to consider when choosing a service to monitor uptime:
- What is the interval between each check?
- How are warning messages sent?
- What reporting option does the system provide?
- What’s the price? Do you really need a paid tracking service?
According to my industry experience, monitoring a server or a webpage is not enough to provide a bulletproof situation for your business.
Several other aspects should be monitored. Say, for example, your online store is prone to idle or other problems; You lose customers and make losses. The most realistic solution is to monitor web pages, login pages, databases, host server, hardware components, and vital applications. Choose a monitoring tool that has all of these features.

Your site is down, now what?

Here are a few things you can do when your site is down:

- Notify your web host about the problem – send reports received from the monitoring service (if any). Do not proceed to the assumption that your hosting provider knows about the problem.
- Drink ice cream and wait for your web host to respond. Yes, I’m serious! You are at the mercy of your web host in this matter, and that is why I always emphasize that choosing a good web host is very important for your success on the Internet. You can do nothing if your web host is the one that is causing the crash.
- If the problem persists, go to another web host.
